If there ever was a social media platform made for hand letterers and hand lettering enthusiasts, it would have to be Instagram! There are so many talented calligraphers that it was hard to pick just five, but here are some of my favorite accounts to follow to get my hand-lettering fix!
1. Olivia @randomolive
I figured we would start out this list with my all-time favorite (and 40,000 other people’s favorite!) Instagram letterer. Olivia is the watercolor and brush lettering expert. She posts tons of videos of her process and has fantastic lettering guides so you can follow along with her. I love the effects she’s able to get with her watercolors and paintbrush, and her style is very uniquely her own!
2. Karin @ipadlettering
Karin is the all-things-iPad-lettering expert! She is always posting fun tutorials to try on your iPad with tons of free resources and giveaways. She is a pro at creating gorgeous and realistic textures and is always willing to share with her followers.
3. Han @hanwriting
If you love gorgeous photos, all things wedding, and gold ink then you have to follow @hanwriting! I’m in awe of the things that she is able to letter on – from geodes and agate slices to oyster shells and leaves! Her photos always make me stop scrolling and stare when they pop up in my feed.
4. Rebecca Hsieh @modestdesignary
Rebecca has one of my favorite brush lettering accounts! She is a pro at following the lettering challenges on Instagram so you’ll see tons of unusual words lettered on her account. She uses some really unique pens, as well, and I love seeing what new technique she’s trying out!
5. Charlotte Xu @charlartscript
Charlotte is based out of Melbourne, and is my go-to Instagrammer when I want to see some seriously gorgeous pointed pen calligraphy. She specializes in Spencerian and Copperplate lettering – both classic calligraphy styles. Her flourishes are seriously on-point and I love checking out the variety she is able to create with her majuscules (uppercase letters). She does a lot of wedding and event calligraphy and posts tons of videos of her process, which I love!
